Write requirements before comparing products
Record the frequency range, signal type, input and output levels, bandwidth, impedance, operating environment, and intended function. Add relevant limits for power, size, mounting, control, interfaces, and system acceptance. Mark each item as required, preferred, or still unknown so that comparisons do not hide unresolved assumptions.
Compare documented capabilities
Use current manufacturer documentation to compare the same parameters and operating conditions across candidates. Confirm connector details, electrical interfaces, ratings, configuration, and any stated limits or exclusions. Ask for clarification when a needed parameter is absent or ambiguous; do not fill gaps with assumed values or infer test performance, certification, or suitability from a product label or brief listing.
Confirm fit and retain selection records
Check that the selected item fits both the electrical signal chain and the mechanical installation, including cable transitions, heat removal, grounding, and access for service as applicable. Keep the requirement set, evidence used, open questions, configuration, and selection rationale together. Supplied PDFs or videos in their original languages are source materials to be confirmed for revision and relevance; the selection process should not assume they were translated or independently validated.
